Most iOS developers handle some or all of this. Pick the parts you need and we'll put them in your brief.
Builds a first version of your app in Swift, from the screens you have sketched to a working build you can test on real devices.
Prepares your listing, screenshots, privacy details and build, handles Apple's review feedback and gets the app live.
Fixes what breaks when Apple releases a new iOS or a new iPhone, so your app keeps working for existing customers.
Finds the crashes, slow screens and battery drain in an existing app and fixes the ones that cost you customers.
Adds Apple Pay, Face ID or Touch ID sign-in, push notifications, widgets, camera and location features where they suit your app.
Links the app to your booking, stock, accounting or customer system so staff and customers see the same information.
Sets up TestFlight so staff and a few customers can try each build before it reaches the whole App Store.
Reviews code written by a previous developer or agency, tells you what state it is in and takes over the maintenance.
Looks after bug fixes, yearly Apple requirements and small improvements on a monthly or as-needed basis.

Straight answers to what NZ business owners ask us most.
If most of your customers use iPhones, or you want the best fit with Apple features such as Apple Pay and Face ID, an iOS developer is the simplest choice. If you need iPhone and Android from one build, say so in the brief and ask applicants to explain how they would approach it. Brief an Android developer if Android is the main target.
You need an Apple Developer Program membership, ideally registered in your business's name rather than the developer's, so you keep control of the app. Your developer prepares the listing, screenshots and privacy details and submits builds to Apple for review.
Review is often quick, but Apple can reject an app or ask for changes, so allow a few days in your timeline and more for a first submission. An experienced iOS developer will check the App Review Guidelines before submitting to reduce the chance of delays.
A simple app can take 6 to 10 weeks. An app with accounts, payments and integrations commonly takes 3 to 6 months. The applicant will give a timeline once they have read your brief.
Ownership is agreed between you and the freelancer. If you want to own the code and the App Store account, say so in the brief and confirm it before work starts.
Say what the app should help people do, who will use it, the three features it must have first, any systems it must connect to, whether you have designs, and your rough budget and timing. A screenshot or link to an app you like helps.
New iOS versions each year can change how an app behaves, and Apple regularly raises the minimum requirements for updates. Ask applicants about ongoing support so someone is ready to keep the app working.
We'll help you shape the brief, find New Zealand freelancers who fit, and introduce you.
