The project
Project overview
Karamu Horse Adventures Website
I designed and developed a new website for Karamu Horse Adventures, a family-run horse trekking experience located in the Karamu hills near Hamilton.
Previously known as Karamu Trail Track, the business needed a modern website that reflected its new ownership, updated branding and renewed focus on guided horse trekking.
The project
The previous website contained a large amount of information spread across numerous pages covering horse treks, trail bikes, 4WD activities, group bookings and visitor information.
For the new website, I simplified the structure and made horse trekking the clear focus. Visitors can now quickly:
Compare horse trek options and prices
Check age, clothing and rider requirements
Find information for schools and larger groups
Read answers to common questions
Get directions to the farm
Check availability and book online
The finished website is easy to navigate on both desktop and mobile, with strong calls to action directing visitors towards the online booking system.
Why I used HTML, CSS and JavaScript
I built the website as a static site using HTML, CSS and JavaScript rather than WordPress.
Because the website does not require a large content management system, customer accounts or complicated database features, a static build was the most efficient solution.
This approach provides:
Faster page loading
Less unnecessary code
Fewer maintenance and security requirements
No reliance on WordPress themes or plugins
Complete control over the design and page structure
Responsive WebP images, lightweight JavaScript and carefully structured HTML help the site remain visually engaging without sacrificing performance.
SEO, AEO and GEO
The website was built with conventional SEO, Answer Engine Optimisation and Generative Engine Optimisation in mind.
Each page has a specific search purpose, supported by optimised titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, canonical URLs and location-focused content.
Dedicated pages target services and customer needs such as horse trekking near Hamilton, Waikato horse riding, group activities, school trips and horse riding for beginners.
The site also provides direct answers to common questions about prices, experience, age limits, clothing, weather and booking policies. This makes the information easier for customers, search engines and AI-powered answer platforms to understand.
Detailed structured data identifies Karamu Horse Adventures as a local business and tourist attraction. It also describes the business’s services, location, trek options, pricing, reviews and booking process.
The result is a fast, focused website that represents the new Karamu Horse Adventures brand while providing a strong foundation for organic search and AI search visibility.
