Kawau Kitchen

Kawau Kitchen reached out to me, needing an identity for their new cafe opening at the Auckland Airport Precinct. They had a specific brief for their identity. The Restaurant is housed in a modern and glassy environment. They had commissioned an artist to create a wallpaper of the Kawau Bird that would be seen on the cafe's walls.

After being unsuccessful with their initial designer, the pressure was on to create something memorable and beautiful that captured the feelings and vibe of Kawau Kitchen. With a passion for illustration, I zoomed in and explored the details and intriguing and imperfect shapes of the bird's feathers and hand drew these details. Adding in splashes of gold and vibrant forest green, the identity encapsulates New Zealand for the visitors entering the cafe.
