Brand Direction and Product Design for an AI Running Coach App Built for Investment Conversations

The project

Project overview

Vanta is an AI running coach app built around a simple observation: existing running apps generate plans but they don't coach. They're static. They don't respond to how you're feeling, what happened in your last run, or a week that didn't go to plan. A founder with a clear product vision brought me in to conceptualise the product, validate the core assumptions, and deliver a brand and UI ready for early investor conversations.

The market is crowded with dark, data-heavy fitness apps. The direction went the other way: clean, minimalist, Apple and Google influenced, soft palette, Satoshi type.

The product was built around the AI coming to you rather than something you open and navigate. The coach checks in, asks how you're feeling, responds, and adjusts. Onboarding ended with a coach selection: Tough, Nerd, Zen, or Supportive, giving users immediate ownership over the kind of relationship they were entering into.

Informal conversations with potential backers responded positively. The next step would be a proper research and testing phase before anything was formally put on the table.
