Simrad set out to create the world’s first fully featured ultrawide marine display, a new product format in the marine electronics market. The challenge was to develop a fresh Industrial Design direction that still felt connected to the existing Simrad visual language, while moving quickly towards production.

During my time at Navico, I was responsible for developing the Industrial Design intent and ID freeze documentation for the NSX Ultrawide. Working closely with a mechanical engineer, I built the external geometric surfaces, refined the product detailing, and specified the surface and texture finishes. The project also explored different mounting options based on customer feedback, helping make the product more practical in real marine environments.

The result was a premium, production focused design for a first of its kind marine display, balancing innovation, usability, brand alignment, and speed to market.
