Resurrect and re-design a broken site

TWNART had lost access to their Wordpress dashboard and to their hosting provider CPanel. Previous attempts to fix the site had caused the layout to become ugly and unusable. The original site developer was no longer available.

Bob contacted me through Unicorn initially to see if I could gain access to to the website. I offered him a no-success, no-cost agreement.

Having gained access, it was apparent that the website Wordpress theme was obsolete, there was no security and many plugins were out of date. I advised that in the interests of cost and in future-proofing, the wisest course was to rebuild the website.

The re-design used salvaged images from the existing site, with some image manipulation, and in close consultation with the Trust, the layout was finalised using the colours that represented the three separate marae that comprise the Trust.

TWNART required ongoing updates with new pānui (notices) from time to time. To facilitate this I set up a Blog framework to manage the pānui and provided training and custom documentation to empower TWNART to make their own changes.

TWNART have a video archive which I showcased with a description and index using custom code.

At a later stage I investigated the possibility of implementing a bilingual site in Te reo Māori and English. TWNART eventually decided not to proceed with this but this proposal provided me a great opportunity to learn a new skill.

I now host the site and keep an close eye on it to ensure continual smooth operation and software updates.
