Hi, I'm Kyle.

About me

I’m a frontend-focused developer who builds clean, fast, and easy-to-use web apps, mainly using React and Next.js. Most of my work is around SPAs and product-style applications. Building new features, improving existing ones, and making sure things feel solid and intuitive to use.

I enjoy working directly from Figma designs and collaborating closely with designers to make sure what gets built matches the intent.

I also work with Next.js and headless CMS setups (mainly Contentful) where content needs to plug into an app or website without getting in the way. I work best with small teams or businesses that want to build things properly from the start, or make meaningful improvements to an existing product.

Work examples

Fair Way Resolution

I built a custom web app for a Family Dispute Resolution service, covering both new applications and respondent reply workflows. The frontend is a React + TypeScript app with a reusable, config-driven multi-step form system, including conditional logic, repeatable sections, dynamic dictionary-driven fields, progress tracking, and step-aware validation. The backend uses Azure Functions to validate submissions, fetch existing case data, retrieve reference dictionaries, and transform form data into XML for submission to an external case-management platform.

Positively Pōneke

Positively Pōneke is a content-managed website for a city improvement and infrastructure programme in Wellington. I developed the front end as a modular Next.js application connected to Contentful via GraphQL, so editors could build and update pages from reusable sections like banners, rich content, galleries, milestones, partner blocks, news feeds, and project listings. I also implemented interactive Google Maps views for work programmes, status-based filtering, dynamic project detail pages, and a road-closure search interface backed by CSV data. The result is a fast, scalable, editor-friendly site designed for public communication, mobile usability, accessibility, and strong SEO/social sharing support.

Tech stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Contentful GraphQL, Google Maps API

Playfolly

Designed and developed a custom Shopify storefront for Playfolly, a premium outdoor play brand. Built with Shopify Liquid, React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS, the project combines Shopify’s CMS and commerce tools with a custom interactive frontend for product storytelling, variant-driven theming, galleries, modular product showcases, and responsive landing pages. I also structured the theme so content, imagery, and product data remain manageable through Shopify’s editor, collections, and metafields.

Tech stack: Shopify Liquid, React, Vite, Tailwind CSS
