The Merchants Son is a mobile app designed to promote the winning entry in the Bacardi Legacy competition 2017. The app was developed to train bartenders on how to make the cocktail virtually using a game before they actually try it behind the counter. This mobile app was developed in C# for use on Apple and Android devices.

Background information:
The inspiration behind my legacy is the merchants of ancient times and their handing down their legacy to their sons. For example, Don Facundo Bacardí, a Spanish wine merchant, revolutionized rum with his knowledge and know-how and created one of the biggest rum brands in the world, which he handed over to his sons. Another inspiration is Marco Polo, whose father was a merchant; Marco then took up the trade as well, spending 27 years of his life with Kublai Khan, Emperor of Mongolia. He was given the task of sourcing new trade routes and discovering new, rare ingredients to be given back to the empire of the Khan.

So, my legacy, 'The Merchant Son,' draws inspiration from both men, their origins, and the places they have been. This is a sweet cocktail with a slight bitter undertone. Alcohol or spirits were not as refined in the 12th century as they are today, so sugar, fruits, and juices were added to make them more pleasurable.
