Job Description

Findhealthy Ltd

Vision: Healthier lives for all!

Aim: Unite the ‘Wellness’ world with the ‘Clinical’ world to provide overweight/obese clients evidenced-based options to manage their weight.

Our service includes: Essentials (elements of lifestyle medicine such as nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress, social), weight-loss medication, and weight-loss surgery * the latter 2 also get the Essentials

Yes, we're going to tackle obesity in the 30 to 40% of Australian and New Zealanders that suffer from this!

Physical activity division

Barriers to Physical activity for Obese individuals:

  • difficulty maintaining consistency of exercise behaviours
  • difficulty making exercise a priority
  • general motivational difficulties; self-conscious
  • lack of enjoyment
  • how patients perceived themselves and the potential benefits of exercise (i.e., patients saw themselves as non-sportive and did not believe exercise as useful for health benefits)
  • pain and chronic illness (hopefully not in our target cohort of 18-50)
  • bigger body making exercise physically too hard and painful.
  • external barriers include: time and weather (an issue in NZ thus inside exercises key but also a few that could be done outside)

Physical Activity sessions

Aim:

  1. We want to create friendly, fun and interactive fitness videos.
  2. Initial aim is to create the “habit” of doing physical activity during a week. Initially activity needs to give sense of achievement to reinforce that they can do it! Ie. nothing too difficult to start with so clients feel demoralised and don’t form habits.
  3. Range of intensities to cater for all and set (achievable) challenges
  4. Assist clients achieve at least more exercise than they’re currently doing
  5. Aim for 150 mins moderate level activity/week
  6. Aim for 2 strengthening sessions per week
  7. Aim for 2 flexibility sessions per week
*Points 5,6,7: clients clearly aren’t going to be able to do all this… it’s an aim based on national and international guidelines for physical activity.
  8. Physically activity sessions “themed” (to a degree) to fit into a 7 day week. See below
