During her final year of study at Massey University, Ari Prakash was hired as a part-time staff writer for their student magazine, Massive. The purpose of the role was to brainstorm ideas and turn them into relatable and witty content for busy students. She was the only staff writer in Albany, so not only did she need to come up with ideas for fresh new content but keep an ear out for news related to student life in Albany. Ari had to be an all-rounder who could write, research, interview, network and multitask.
Ari's work helped Massey University's student magazine gain new recognition and new readers. Her tongue-in-cheek style of writing and the topics she wrote about, often centring around cultural issues and wellness, earned her many accolades. She won 1st place: Best Humour/Satire Writer, 3rd place: Best Creative Writing/Poetry and 1st place tie: Best Headline at the 2021 Aotearoa Student Press Awards.
