Community consultation is an essential part of local council communications and the Gisborne District Council was looking to increase their reach and submissions to their Have Your Say campaigns through different channels.
It made sense to utilise digital ads that can link straight to the form for the submission removing some of the barriers previously in the way of collecting submissions.
Geo Targeting settings allowed the campaigns to be delivered to all those in the Tairawhiti region on Facebook and Instagram.
The post format of the ad provided an engagement mechanism for the Council where locals could comment and the council was able to respond in an efficient way.
Reporting through the digital ads platforms enabled the Gisborne District Council to identify the demographics they reached and where their investment was most effective.
Overall the submissions for these campaigns were very successful which is due in part to highly emotive submission topics and of course the addition of digital ads.
